The combined organic phase was washed with brine (50 mL), dried with anhydrous Na2SO4, filtered and concentrated in vacuo to afford Intermediate 53 (1.4 g, 3.54 mmol, 62.37% yield) as a yellow solid. 1H NMR (CDCl3, 400 MHz) delta 8.92 (d, J = 4.8 Hz, 2H), 7.75 (s, 1 H), 7.54 (d, J = 7.6 Hz, 1 H), 7.40 (t, J = 4.8 Hz, 1 H), 7.11-7.06 (m, 2H), 6.24 (s, 1 H), 3.00 (t, J = 9.6 Hz, 2H), 2.64 (t, J = 9.6 Hz, 2H), 2.42 (s, 3H).
