The layers were separated and the aqueous phase was extracted with ethyl acetate (2 x 10 mL). The organic layers were combined and washed with saturated aqueous ammonium chloride (3 x 15 mL). The ammonium chloride washes were combined and back extracted with ethyl acetate (15 mL). The organic layers were combined, washed with brine/ 1 M hydrochloric acid (4:1 v/v) (15 mL), dried over sodium sulfate, filtered, and concentrated under reduced pressure to give the title compound, which was used in the next reaction without further purification. MS (APCI+) m/z 513.4 [M+H]+.
