A new electrochem. method for the preparation of isocyanides RN+C- (R = octyl, cyclohexylmethyl, 4-tert-butylphenyl, thiophen-2-ylmethyl, etc.) from easily accessible aminotetrazole derivatives I has been developed, which tolerates an unprecedented range of functional groups.
