The aqueous layer was extracted with tetrahydrofuran. The organic layer was dried and concentrated to get 14.5 g (3S)-methyl 3-(tert-butoxy carbonylamino)-4-hydroxy-4-(2,4,5-trifluoromethyl-phenyl)butyrate (yield: 66%).
