Li, Qiankun;Wang, Chaoqun;Mu, Hongliang;Jian, Zhongbao research published 《 A readily available neutral nickel catalyst for accessing linear ultrahigh molecular weight polyethylene in a living manner》, the research content is summarized as follows. It is of great importance and is highly desired in the olefin polymerization catalysis that a simple catalyst derived from cheap starting materials and short synthetic pathways exhibits superior catalytic property towards a polymerization reaction. In this contribution, starting from com. available and cheap materials, by using a short and simple three-step reaction route we report a readily available neutral phenoxy-imine nickel catalyst, which significantly enables the formation of linear ultrahigh mol. weight polyethylene (∼5 brs/1000C, Mn = 1531 kDa) in a living polymerization (PDI = 1.08-1.11). An enhancement of 77 times on the polymer mol. weight occurs compared to the classical 2,6-diisopropyl substituted phenoxy-imine nickel catalyst. This avoids a tedious synthetic procedure and the use of an excess aluminum reagent as the activator and the scavenger.

One pot multi-component strategy has been developed for the synthesis of a small library of nineteen 4-aryl-1,4-dihydro-oxochromeno[3,2-b]oxoindeno[6,5-e]pyridine by the condensation of 4-aminocoumarin, aromatic aldehyde and indane-1,3-dione in acetic acid:ethylene glycol (5:1) in good yields along with the formation of di-(4-aminocoumarin-3-yl)arylmethane as by product in three cases. The use of microwave irradiation for the condensation of 4-aminocoumarin, aromatic aldehyde and indane-1,3-dione in acetic acid and ethylene glycol at 200 W and at 120°C led to the selective formation of 4-aryl-1,4-dihydro-oxochromeno[3,2-b]oxoindeno[6,5-e] pyridine in excellent yields. Interestingly, the side product di-(4-aminocoumarin-3-yl)arylmethane could be converted exclusively to 4-(4′-nitrophenyl)-1,4-dihydro-di(oxochromeno[3,2-b:5,6-e])pyridine on microwave irradiation under identical condition.

Kilic, Ahmet;Soylemez, Rahime;Okumus, Veysi research published 《 Design, spectroscopic properties and effects of novel catechol spiroborates derived from Schiff bases in the antioxidant, antibacterial and DNA binding activity》, the research content is summarized as follows. Novel catechol spiroborates (L(1-5)B) were prepared from the reaction of the corresponding Schiff base (L(1-5)H) ligands, boric acid, and 3,5-di-tert-Bu catechol under favorable reaction conditions. The synthesized all compounds were characterized by NMR spectra, FT-IR spectra, UV-Vis spectra, LC-MS/MS spectra, fluorescence spectra, elemental anal. as well as the m.p. The optical properties of the Schiff base ligands and catechol spiroborates were investigated using – and fluorescence spectra in the C2H5OH. The antioxidant activities of newly synthesized Schiff base ligands and their catechol spiroborates were investigated using the 2,2-diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl (DPPH) radical scavenging ability and reducing power ability. Among the synthesized catechol spiroborates, (L2B) exhibited the maximum radical scavenging (91.5 ± 2.11%) and reducing power activity (0.654±0.015) at a concentration of 200.0μg/mL. Antibacterial activity was determined using 3 Gram pos. and 2 Gram neg. bacteria by disk diffusion method. Schiff base (L2H) was found to be effective against all test bacteria used. Besides, the DNA binding activity of the catechol spiroborates was determined using Calf Thymus DNA, and the DNA cleavage activity was determined using pBR-322 plasmid DNA by agarose gel electrophoresis method.

Kleinmans, Roman;Pinkert, Tobias;Dutta, Subhabrata;Paulisch, Tiffany O.;Keum, Hyeyun;Daniliuc, Constantin G.;Glorius, Frank research published 《 Intermolecular [2π+2σ]-photocycloaddition enabled by triplet energy transfer》, the research content is summarized as follows. For more than one century, photochem. [2+2]-cycloadditions have been used by synthetic chemists to make cyclobutanes, four-membered carbon-based rings. In this reaction, typically two olefin subunits (two π-electrons per olefin) cyclize to form two new C-C σ-bonds. Although the development of photochem. [2+2]-cycloadditions has made enormous progress within the last century, research has been focused on such [2π+2π]-systems, in which two π-bonds are converted into two new σ-bonds. Here an intermol. [2+2]-photocycloaddition that uses bicyclo[1.1.0]butanes as 2σ-electron reactants was reported. This strain-release-driven [2π+2σ]-photocycloaddition reaction was realized by visible-light-mediated triplet energy transfer catalysis. A simple, modular and diastereoselective synthesis of bicyclo[2.1.1]hexanes from heterocyclic olefin coupling partners, namely coumarins, flavones and indoles, is disclosed. Given the increasing importance of bicyclo[2.1.1]hexanes as bioisosteres-groups that convey similar biol. properties to those they replace-in pharmaceutical research and considering their limited access, there remains a need for new synthetic methodologies. Applying this strategy enabled to extend the intermol. [2+2]-photocycloadditions to σ-bonds and provides previously inaccessible structural motifs.

Kolodziej, Beata;Duran, Burcu;Morawiak, Maja;Schilf, Wojciech research published 《 Unusual products of reaction between aminoisoxazoles and aromatic aldehydes》, the research content is summarized as follows. In this work, the results of research (NMR, ATR-FTIR, UV-Vis, and X-ray) of products obtained in the reaction of 5-methyl-3-aminoisoxazole (3AMI) or 3-methyl-5-aminoisoxazole (5AMI) with 17 different aldehydes was presented. Based on the results, it was proved that this simple and well-known reaction does not always lead to the obtaining of typical products. In addition, a discussion on tautomeric forms preferred by the investigated o-hydroxy imine compounds in solution and in the solid state was presented. Knowledge of the tautomeric form which given Schiff base exists in the solution and in the solid state is very important in the development of medicine and pharmacy as well as coordination chem.
