Through condensation of 4-n-alkoxybenzaldehydes with (E)-1-(4-aminophenyl)-3-(thiophen-2-yl)prop-2-en-1-one, new homologous series of rod shaped calamite liquid crystals that merge Schiff base, chalcone and thiophene units I (R = Et, n-Bu, n-heptyl, etc.) have been prepared All synthesized compounds were characterized by FT-IR, 1H-NMR and 13C-NMR spectroscopy. The liquid crystalline properties of the synthesized compounds were investigated using a polarizing optical microscope (POM) and differential scanning calorimetry (DSC). The results indicate that n-heptyloxy to n-tetradecyloxy derivatives exhibited monotropic nematic phase while the remaining derivatives of homologous series are non mesomorphic. The n-ethoxy derivative I (R = Et) crystallizes under monoclinic, space group P21/c with unit cell dimension a = 19.343(4) Å , b = 5.8353(9) Å , c = 16.574(4) Å , β = 98.78(2) °, V = 1848.8(7) Å 3. The first examples of deep-red/near-IR (NIR) photoluminescent, (n,π-conjugated) discotics, namely, C3h-tris(keto-hydrazone)s, which are the tautomers of tris(azo-enol)s, have been synthesized via a facile one-step triple azo-coupling and characterized. H-bonding, rendering planarity and shape persistence to the central core, facilitates their self-assembly into either a hexagonal columnar (Colh) phase (p6mm lattice) or a columnar rectangular (Colr) phase (p2mm lattice), over an extended thermal range including room temperature, fluorescing in the deep-red/NIR-I region. The low band gap with deep-red/NIR emission makes them ideal candidates for NIR-organic light-emitting diodes (OLEDs) and bioimaging.

Nayak, Rashmi Ashwathama;Bhat, Sachin A.;Rao, D. S. Shankar;Yelamaggad, C. V. research published 《 Wide thermal range, exclusive occurrence of technically significant chiral nematic phase: synthesis and mesomorphism of cholesterol-based non-symmetric dimers》, the research content is summarized as follows. Fifteen new non-sym. chiral dimers belonging to three different series have been synthesized and evaluated for their mesomorphic properties. They were formed by interlinking cholesterol with salicylaldimine (SAN) cores (with reverse imine groups) via an ω-oxyalkanoyloxy spacer. Within a series, the length of the terminal n-alkoxy tails had been varied for a fixed even-parity spacer. Three even-parity spacers such as 4-oxybutanoyloxy, 6-oxyhexanoyloxy and 8-oxyoctanoyloxy have been used to join two cores, whereas the terminal tails such as n-butyloxy, n-hexyloxy, n-octyloxy, n-decyloxy and n-dodecyloxy chains have been attached to the SAN core. Microscopic and calorimetric exptl. results show that all the dimers behave identically exhibiting the chiral nematic (N*) phase solely, which was authenticated by powder X-ray diffraction studies carried out on some selected samples. In the vast majority of the cases, the phase was thermodynamically stable, and while cooling, it exists over a wide thermal range covering room temperature(RT)due to supercooling. Finding was notable given the fact that the N* phase possesses technol. significant optical properties. At RT, the N* phase displayed one of the iridescent colors characteristically caused by interference and diffraction of the reflected and scattered light. A comparative study reveals that the lengths of both the terminal chain and central spacer influence the clearing temperature of the dimers, and also the temperature range of the N* phase. The selective reflection measurements revealed that the pitch of the N* phase was either temperature sensitive or temperature insensitive. Temperature-dependent CD (CD) spectra were recorded for the planar texture of the N* phase formed by a dimer, as a representative case. The presence of an intense neg. CD band suggests the left-handed screw sense of the N* phase helix.

Zika virus belongs to the Flavivirus family of RNA viruses, which include other important human pathogens such as dengue and West Nile virus. There are no approved antiviral drugs for these viruses. The highly conserved NS2B-NS3 protease of Flavivirus is essential for the replication of these viruses and it is therefore a drug target. Compound screen followed by medicinal chem. optimization yielded a novel series of 2,6-disubstituted indole compounds that are potent inhibitors of Zika virus protease (ZVpro) with IC50 values as low as 320 nM. The structure-activity relationships of these and related compounds are discussed. Enzyme kinetics studies show the inhibitor 66 most likely exhibited a non-competitive mode of inhibition. In addition, this series of ZVpro inhibitors also inhibit the NS2B-NS3 protease of dengue and West Nile virus with reduced potencies. The most potent compounds 66 and 67 strongly inhibited Zika virus replication in cells with EC68 values of 1-3 μM. These compounds are novel pharmacol. leads for further drug development targeting Zika virus.

Mkhonazi, Blessing D.;Shandu, Malibongwe;Tshinavhe, Ronewa;Simelane, Sandile B.;Moshapo, Paseka T. research published 《 Solvent-free iron(III) chloride-catalyzed direct amidation of esters》, the research content is summarized as follows. The synthesis of these functional groups via an iron(iii) chloride-catalyzed direct amidation of esters was reported. The reactions are conducted under solvent-free conditions and found to be compatible with a range of amine and ester substrates generating the desired amides in short reaction times and good to excellent yields at a catalyst loading of 15 mol%.

4897-84-1, Methyl 4-bromobutyrate,also as known as 4-Bromobutyric acid methyl ester, is a useful research compound. Its molecular formula is C5H9BrO2 and its molecular weight is 181.03 g/mol. The purity is usually 95%.
4-Bromobutyric acid methyl ester is a synthetic compound that can be used to inhibit the activity of the G1 phase cyclin-dependent kinases. It has been shown to inhibit protein synthesis by alkylating the amino groups of proteins and fatty acids. 4-Bromobutyric acid methyl ester also inhibits the growth of cancer cell lines, such as renal carcinoma cells. The mechanism of action for this drug is not well understood, but it may be due to its ability to bind with monoclonal antibodies and enter kidney cells by passive diffusion., Product Details of C5H9BrO2

COA of Formula: C5H7BrO3, Ethyl bromopyruvate molecular formula is C5H7BrO3 and its molecular weight is 195.01 g/mol. The purity is usually 95%.

Ethyl bromopyruvate is used in a synthesis of thioxothiazolidines from carbon disulfide and primary amines.

Ethyl bromopyruvate is a chemical inhibitor that inhibits the enzyme pyruvate dehydrogenase, which is responsible for the conversion of pyruvic acid to acetyl-CoA. This inhibition leads to a decrease in ATP levels and can cause metabolic disorders. Ethyl bromopyruvate is used as an anthelmintic drug and in asymmetric synthesis. It is also used in the synthesis of thiostrepton, an antibiotic that has been shown to have antimicrobial activity against Gram-positive bacteria, including Staphylococcus aureus and Streptococcus pneumoniae., 70-23-5.
