A green modification method for effectively enhancing toughness of PLA was established. Herein, alk. lignin (LG) was firstly alkylated with dodecane, and then grafted with lactide (LA). The alkylated lignin-lactide graft copolymer (GLG-g-LA) was obtained via ring-opening polymerization (ROP). GLG-g-LA copolymer can be utilized as a functional filler to toughen polylactic acid (PLA) packaging film. The 31P-NMR of alkylated lignin (GLG) demonstrated that the peak of phenolic hydroxyl groups disappeared completely, while the relative peak intensity of carboxyl hydroxyl groups decreased significantly. The grafting rate of GLG-g-LA copolymer was improved more than twice times compared with lignin-lactide graft copolymer (LG-g-LA). Then LG-g-LA and GLG-g-LA copolymer were mixed with PLA to prepare different PLA composite films via casting method, resp. Particularly, the elongation at break of PLA/GLG-g-LA2 composite film increased to 41.98%, which was more than 20 times higher than PLA. In general, PLA/GLG-g-LA composite film with toughness, excellent UV barrier, water resistance and controllable gas permeation could be used as high-performance and biodegradable materials in packaging field.

A new class of polymeric hole-transport materials (HTMs) are explored by inserting a two-dimensionally conjugated fluoro-substituted pyrene into thiophene and selenophene polymeric chains. The broad conjugated plane of pyrene and “Lewis soft” selenium atoms not only enhance the π-π stacking of HTM mols. greatly but also render a strong interaction with the perovskite surface, leading to an efficient charge transport/transfer in both the HTM layer and the perovskite/HTM interface. Note that fluorine substitution adjacent to pyrene boosts the stacking of HTMs towards a more favorable face-on orientation, further facilitating the efficient charge transport. As a result, perovskite solar cells (PSCs) employing PE10 as dopant-free HTM afford an excellent efficiency of 22.3 % and the dramatically enhanced device longevity, qualifying it among the best PSCs based on dopant-free HTMs.

The photophys. properties were studied by UV-Vis absorption and fluorescence spectroscopy. Cyclic voltammograms of I [X = N] and I [X = O] were investigated and HOMO and LUMO energy levels of both two PDIs were estimated as -6.2 and -3.9 eV, resp. Thermal properties were also studied by thermogravimetric anal. (TGA) and differential scanning calorimetry (DSC). I [X = N] was assembled into nanotubes while I [X = O] was assembled into nanobelts resp., via a reprecipitation method. I [X = N] and I [X = O] show good potential application in organic devices such as solar cells, organic field-effect transistors (OFETs) and so on.

Benefit from ternary random electrochem. copolymerization, the pCo-2 copolymer displays excellent electrochromic-supercapacitor properties among the similar bifunctional materials, with fast response time, high optical contrast, good cycling stability and large area (volume) specific capacitance. The electrochromic supercapacitor device based on pCo-2//PEDOT can make an LCD run continuously. This work provides an available general approach to realizing black-to-transmissive electrochromism towards electrochromic-supercapacitor bifunctional applications.

Here, we report a medicinal chem. evaluation of a collection of TASIN analogs and activity against colon cancer cell lines and an isogenic cell line pair reporting on the status of APC-dependent selectivity. A number of potent and selective analogs were identified, including compounds with good metabolic stability and pharmacokinetic properties. The compounds reported herein represent a first-in-class genotype-selective series that specifically target apc mutations present in the majority of CRC patients and serve as a translational platform toward a targeted therapy for colon cancer.
