Reversible Release and Fixation of Bromine in Vacancy-Ordered Bromide Perovskites

Bromine is an irreplaceable reagent for many important applications including necessary additive for flame retardants and rubber treatment. However, the toxicity, causticity, and vaporability of bromine make the safe usage and transportation of bromine challenging, which can be alleviated by the bromine prefixation. Herein, vacancy-ordered bromide perovskites such as Cs4Sb2Br12 and Cs2PdBr6 are selected out for the bromine fixation through density-functional theory calculations and experiments. The redox within the bromide perovskites is designed to provide the driving force for the reversible release and fixation of bromine. Heating and cooling the title bromide perovskites in a necked ampoule make the bromine visible and separable from the solid residue. The composition engineering (i.e., Cs4Sb2Br12 vs Rb4Sb2Br12, and Cs4Sb2Br12 vs Cs2PdBr6) can effectively tune the stability (against water and high temperature) and the bromine storage capacity (from 9.30% to 18.76%). Nitrite sensor based on room temperature ionic liquid functionalized alpha-zirconium phosphate modified glassy carbon electrode

A novel ionic liquid/alpha-ZrP (C16MIM/alpha-ZrP) lamellar nanocomposite was fabricated via the electrostatic self-assembly deposition technique by using exfoliated alpha-ZrP nanosheets and guest molecules (1-hexadecyl-3-methylimidazolium bromide) as building blocks under mild conditions. C16MIM/alpha-ZrP nanocomposite was characterized by various analytical techniques such as X-ray diffraction (XRD), transmission electron microscopy (TEM), scanning electron microscope (SEM), Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, and synchronous thermal analyzer. The net interlayer spacing of alpha-ZrP determined by XRD confirmed that the C16MIM cations formed a monolayer arrangement between the alpha-ZrP nanosheets. The morphology and microstructure of C16MIM/alpha-ZrP composite were observed using SEM and TEM. The C16MIM/alpha-ZrP modified glass carbon electrode exhibited excellent electrocatalytic activity toward the oxidation of nitrite in weak base media. The results obtained with differential pulse voltammetry demonstrated that the C16MIM/alpha-ZrP hybrid detected nitrite linearly in the concentration range from 7.3 mu M to 1.25 mM with the detection limit of 1.26 mu M (S/N = 3). Additionally, the prepared sensor showed outstanding reproducibility, high stability, and anti-interference capability.

Irreversibility in Anion Exchange Between Cesium Lead Bromide and Iodide Nanocrystals Imaged by Single-Particle Fluorescence

Anion exchange is a powerful method to tune the emission wavelength of perovskite CsPbX3 (X = CI, Br, or I) nanocrystals across the visible spectrum. CsPbX3 nanocrystals can possess a number of crystal structures that depend on both their composition and size. Understanding the role these structural variations play during anion exchange is important for their future application in optoelectronic devices. In this work, we used fluorescence microscopy to monitor reaction trajectories of individual nanocrystals as they undergo anion exchange between CsPbBr3 and CsPbI3. By varying the concentration of substitutional ion used to induce anion exchange, we quantify differences in reaction times for exchange in opposite directions. CsPbI3 nanocrystals undergo more abrupt shifts in their emission characteristics as they transform to CsPbBr3, while CsPbBr3 nanocrystals exhibit a smoother transition during their transformation to CsPbI3. Simulations of anion exchange using Monte Carlo trajectories are consistent with a larger degree of structural reorganization when CsPbI3 nanocrystals undergo anion exchange. Together, these results reveal that there are structural differences between CsPbI3 nanocrystals synthesized by the hot-injection method and those produced by anion exchange. The narrower distribution of reaction times when CsPbI3 nanocrystals transform to CsPbBr3 may produce better compositional homogeneity when this reaction is scaled-up to incorporate these materials into optoelectronic devices.

Pd-KIT-6: synthesis of a novel three-dimensional mesoporous catalyst and studies on its enhanced catalytic applications

Synthesis of a novel three-dimensional mesoporous Pd-KIT-6 is carried out by a room temperature sol-gel method. Solid-State EDLC Device Based on Magnesium Ion-Conducting Biopolymer Composite Membrane Electrolytes: Impedance, Circuit Modeling, Dielectric Properties and Electrochemical Characteristics

The fabricated electrochemical double layer capacitor (EDLC) achieved the specific capacitance values of 24.46 F/g and 39.68 F/g via the cyclic voltammetry (CV) curve and the charge-discharge profile, respectively. AbstractSaccharomyces cerevisiae and Aspergillus oryzae are both ancient probiotic species traditionally used as microbes for brewing beer and soy sauce, respectively. This study investigated the effect of adding these two probiotics with phytase fermentation products to the broilers diet. Fermented products possess protease and cellulase, and the activities were 777.1 and 189.5 U/g dry matter (DM) on S. cerevisiae fermented products (SCFP) and 190 and 213.4 U/g DM on A. oryzae fermented products (AOFP), respectively. Liposaccharides stimulated PBMCs to produce nitric oxide to 120 mu mol. Both SCFP and AOFP reduced lipopolysaccharides stimulated peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMCs) nitric oxide release to 40 and 60 mu mol, respectively. Nevertheless, in an MTT (3-(4,5-dimethylthiazol-2-yl)-2,5-diphenyltetrazolium bromide) assay, SCFP and AOFP also increased the survival rate of lipopolysaccharides stimulated PBMCs by almost two-fold compared to the negative control. A total of 240 broilers were divided into four groups as Control, SCFP 0.1% (SCFP), SCFP 0.05% + AOFP 0.05% (SAFP), and AOFP 0.1% (AOFP) groups, respectively. Each group had 20 broilers, and three replicate pens. The results showed that the addition of SCFP, SAFP, and AOFP groups did not affect the growth performances, but increased the jejunum value of villus height and villus: crypt ratio on SAFP and AOFP groups compared to the control and SCFP groups. Furthermore, adding SCFP, SAFP, and AOFP significantly reduced the number of Clostridium perfringens in ileum chyme. SCFP, SAFP, and AOFP significantly reduced the amount of interleukin-1 beta, inducible nitric oxide synthases, interferon-gamma, and nuclear factor kappa B mRNA expression in PBMCs, especially in the AOFP group. Post-marketing Re-evaluation of Tongxiening Granules in Treatment of Diarrhea-Predominant Irritable Bowel Syndrome: A Multi-center, Randomized, Double-Blind, Double-Dummy and Positive Control Trial

Objective: To evaluate the efficacy and safety of Tongxiening Granules (TXNG) in the treatment of irritable bowel syndrome with predominant diarrhea (IBS-D). Methods: A randomized, double-blind, double-dummy, and positive parallel controlled clinical trial was conducted from October 2014 to March 2016. Totally 342 patients from 13 clinical centers were enrolled and randomly assigned (at the ratio of 1:1) to a treatment group (171 cases) and a control group (171 cases) by a random coding table. The patients in the treatment group were administered orally with TXNG (5 g per time) combined with pinaverium bromide Tablet simulator (50 mg per time), 3 times per day. The patients in the control group were given TXNG simulator (5 g per time) combined with pinaverium bromide Tablets (50 mg per time), 3 times per day. The treatment course lasted for 6 weeks. The improvement of Irritable Bowel Syndrome Symptom Severity Score (IBS-SSS) was used to evaluate the primary outcome. Secondary outcomes included adequate relief (AR) rate, Irritable Bowel Syndrome-Quality of Life Questionnaire (IBS-QOL), Hamilton Anxiety Scale (HAMA), Hamilton Depression Scale (HAMD), and the recurrence rate at follow-ups. Safety indices including the adverse events (AEs) and related laboratory tests were evaluated. Results: Primary outcome: IBS-SSS at baseline, weeks 2, 4, 6 showed no statistical significance in both full analysis set (FAS) and per protocol set (PPS, P>0.05). After 6 weeks of treatment, the total effective rate of IBS-SSS scores in the treatment group (147/171, 86.0%) was higher than the control group (143/171, 83.6%) by FAS (P>0.05). In regard to secondary outcomes, after 6-week treatment, there was no significant difference in AR rate, total score of IBS-QOL, improvement of HAMD and HAMA total scores between the two groups (P>0.05). Further (2a2t) derivatives were reacted with thiocarbohydrazide to obtain a series of 4-amino-5-sulfanyl-4,5-dihydro-1,2,4-triazolo-4-pheny-(substituted)-quinolin-2-one derivatives (3a3t). Then condensation of (3a3t) with phenacyl bromide provided series of fused heterocyclic derivatives of 4-phenyl-1-({6-phenyl-7H-[1,2,4]triazolo[3,4-b][1,3,4]thiadiazin-3-yl}methyl)-(substituted)-1,2-dihydro quinolin-2-one (4a4t). Structures of these newly synthesized derivatives were established by elemental analysis, FT-IR, 1H NMR and Mass spectroscopy. Final derivatives (4a4t) were screened for their in vitro antibacterial and antifungal activities against the standard drugs Ampicillin and Fluconazole respectively. The compounds 4d, 4g and 4j showed potent activity against all the studied microbes.
